When Life Has Other Plans

I hope your week is going well ☀️
This week, one of my weekly calls reminded me that life rarely unfolds the way we expect it to.
Before the call, I had a plan. There were questions I wanted to ask, stories I hoped to hear, and a direction I imagined our conversation would take. I enjoy preparing because I want every conversation to be meaningful.
But life had other plans.
Almost immediately, our conversation wandered in a completely different direction. We laughed about things I hadn't expected to talk about, shared stories I never would have thought to ask about, and found ourselves exploring memories and experiences that weren't on my list.
By the time we hung up, I realized something.
The conversation was richer because it didn't follow my plan.
I've been thinking about that ever since.
How often do we approach life the same way? We map out our careers, relationships, vacations, or even an ordinary day, believing we know how it should unfold. There's comfort in having a plan, and I don't think that's a bad thing.
But sometimes the moments that stay with us aren't the ones we planned at all.
They're the unexpected conversations.
The invitation we almost declined 🙈
The chance encounter that turned into a friendship.
The detour that led somewhere we never knew we wanted to go.
Maybe some of the best parts of life aren't the ones we carefully organize, but the ones we discover simply by being present enough to notice them.
It's a reminder I'm trying to carry with me...
To leave a little room for surprise.
To listen a little longer.
To be curious about where a conversation might lead instead of worrying about where I thought it should go.
I'd love to hear from you.
Has life ever surprised you with something better than what you originally had in mind?
Your Friend,
Amie 🌱
